Beyond the ‘PandaDoc vs DocuSign’ debate: which SMEs truly manage their contracts, why Contrat_v3_FINAL_v2.docx still exists, and why we integrated the contract editor into Orizen — so drafting, signing and archiving form one continuous cycle, not three disconnected tools.

I Who is it for

For SMEs that sign contracts daily — without the budget for an in-house legal team.

Every SME signs contracts: service agreements, T&Cs, NDAs, maintenance contracts, amendments. Most do it with a patchwork of Word + DocuSign + Dropbox, without a structured template library, no visibility on what’s signed, and no probative archiving. Four profiles keep coming up.

SME manager who signs first

You draft your contracts yourself, from an "official" Word file that no one maintains. Every contract is a patchwork of inherited paragraphs.

Orizen pre-validated templates, auto-filled variables, signature in 30 seconds. The right contract in 90 seconds, no need to call a lawyer.

Sales rep who closes remotely

You want to sign a contract at the end of the meeting. Today: Word, PDF by email, waiting, back-and-forth. The client leaves, you lose momentum.

Generate the contract from the quote during the call, send for signature immediately. Close in the conversation, not after.

Office manager handling the legal portfolio

You’re the keeper of the contracts. Today: Dropbox + Drive + shared server. Finding "the Acme contract signed in 2023" takes 20 minutes.

All signed contracts automatically filed in the customer record. Search by customer, type, or date. No more hunting for PDFs.

Design office or agency contracting with multiple parties

Your contracts involve 3+ signatories (your director, the client, a partner). Coordinating signatures by email takes a week.

Multiple signatories with configurable order, automatic reminders between steps, final document with all timestamped signatures.

II Drafting + signing + archiving

One tool for all three—not Word + DocuSign + Dropbox.

The details below: the three recurring pain points of SME contracts, Orizen Contracts’ four core features, and the comparison vs PandaDoc and DocuSign CLM.

The life of an SME contract in 2026

Contrat_v3_FINAL_v2_relu.docx
still exists because nothing was done about it.

The Word template that’s never up to date

You have an "official" Word template. No one knows where it is. Every salesperson has their own version. Clauses differ. The lawyer redoes the rounds every 6 months.

Variables filled in manually

You search for the client’s SIRET in the CRM, copy it into the contract, then the RIB from the accounting record. Every time. And there’s always a missing variable.

The signed contract you can’t find again

Contract signed in PDF by email. Filed in a Dropbox folder. Six months later, a dispute arises: where is it? On which server? With which final version?

The Orizen contract editor

Your legal templates. Your auto-filled variables.
One signature, one archive.

Centralised legal templates

Service contracts, T&Cs, NDAs, maintenance contracts, subcontracting agreements, amendments… your legal templates are versioned and accessible to the whole team.

  • Default templates (reviewed annually)
  • Custom templates signed by your lawyer
  • Version history + clause library

Auto-filled variables from the CRM

{{client.raison_sociale}}, {{client.siret}}, {{montant.ht}}, {{prestations.libelle}}… all variables are pre-filled from the client record and associated quote.

  • 50+ native variables (client, project, quote)
  • Custom fields available
  • Automatic validation of required fields

Integrated eIDAS electronic signature

Send for signature in 1 click. The recipient gets the link, authenticates via OTP, signs in 30 seconds. eIDAS legal validity, full audit trail.

  • Multiple signatories with configurable order
  • SMS/email OTP authentication
  • No cost per signature (vs DocuSign)

Probative archiving and traceability

The signed contract is automatically archived in the client folder. Time-stamped, sealed, stored for 10 years in compliance with the French Commercial Code.

  • Timestamped probative archiving
  • Accessible from the client record
  • Hosted in France (OVH Roubaix)

vs PandaDoc, DocuSign CLM

PandaDoc drafts well. DocuSign signs well.
But neither knows your client.

Dedicated drafting tools are powerful—but disconnected from your CRM and invoicing. You re-enter details, re-upload contracts, re-map signatures.

III How it works

From a Word file renamed v3 to a signed and archived contract, in 90 seconds.

Three milestones: import your templates on Day 1, first contract signed in Week 1, consolidated legal assets in Month 1.

Day 1 — Template import

Your Word templates become Orizen templates.

  • Import and convert 3-5 key templates
  • CRM variables mapped automatically
  • First draft tested on a real client
Week 1 — First signed contract

A customer contract drafted, signed, archived.

  • First contract sent for signature
  • Signature received with eIDAS certificate
  • Contract archived in the client record
Month 1 – Consolidated legal assets

All your active contracts in Orizen.

  • Migration of active contracts to Orizen
  • Established clause library
  • Multi-party signature workflow in place
IV Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we’re asked most often.

Can I use my existing Word templates in Orizen?

Yes. Import your Word templates, and the Orizen team will convert them with CRM variables (free for up to 5 templates on your subscription). You retain all your legal assets without rewriting everything. Beyond that, conversion is quoted (1–2 hours per template). Your specific clauses, terms, and visual branding are all preserved.

Are Orizen’s legal templates up to date?

Yes. Our core templates (service agreements, T&Cs, NDAs, maintenance, subcontracting) are drafted and reviewed annually by a partner business law firm (Paris). You’ll receive a notification when a template is updated due to legal reforms (e.g. new e-invoicing law 2026, GDPR updates, changes to the Labour Code).

Can my team collaborate internally on a contract draft before sending?

Yes. Multiple users can edit the draft simultaneously, with inline comments and track changes. The draft remains in “draft” status until validated. Once approved by an authorised user, the contract is locked as read-only and sent for electronic signature.

How do I sign a contract with multiple parties (e.g. your director + client + third party)?

You define the signing order in Orizen (for example: your director first, then the client, then a partner). Each signatory receives their signing link in turn, via email with SMS OTP authentication. The final document bears all signatures with their eIDAS timestamp, accompanied by the signature certificate.

Is the signed contract accessible in case of dispute?

Yes. The signed contract is stored for 10 years in Orizen (in compliance with Article L110-4 of the French Commercial Code), timestamped, sealed against any modification, and accompanied by its electronic signature certificate with all evidence (IP, device, OTP used, date). In case of dispute before a French court, this certificate is irrefutable.

How much does the contract drafting module cost?

Included in all Orizen plans. No additional licence, no cost per contract or per signature. For comparison, PandaDoc would charge ~€250/month for 5 users, DocuSign CLM ~€290/month — around €3,000 to €3,500/year. With Orizen, it’s included with the CRM, invoicing, signature and archiving.

V Our belief

A contract is a written promise—not a PDF you find by luck.

Every SME signs contracts—and every SME loses them. Not really lost, but filed without logic, found by chance when a dispute arises. This is the standard state of SME legal assets: Dropbox, Drive, server folders, sometimes a cabinet with cardboard binders. Yet these contracts are the legal embodiment of your business—the foundation on which your company is built or challenged.

A contract should be: drafted fast (templates), signed seamlessly (eIDAS at no extra cost), archived effortlessly (automatic client record). Three simple things that no French SME tool currently does natively. We’ve seen too many managers pay a lawyer to rewrite the same contract every quarter. We’ve seen too many sales teams lose a deal because signing took 5 days.

So we integrated the contract editor into Orizen, complete with signing and probative archiving. One seamless cycle, from signed quote to archived contract. And the legal validity remains full, because eIDAS and the French Commercial Code don’t require more than what we offer.
