Your customer subscriptions run — you don’t lift a finger.
Monthly, quarterly, annual schedule. Invoices issued automatically, sent with payment link, followed up if overdue. Your MRR builds while you focus on other tasks
Beyond the ‘Chargebee vs Stripe Billing’ debate: which B2B SMEs are pivoting to recurring revenue, why manually invoicing 47 subscriptions becomes an invisible monthly chore, and why we integrated subscription management into Orizen—because we eventually found it absurd to pay €299/month to a dedicated tool for something a French SME actually needs.
IWho is it for
For SMEs switching from one-off to recurring — and who don’t want to become full-time accountants.
Recurring revenue changes everything: predictable income, churn to manage, MRR to grow month after month. But without a dedicated tool, you’re manually billing 47 subscriptions on the 1st of the month, losing 8%–12% of payments to silent defaults. Four profiles keep coming back to us.
Early-stage B2B SaaS
You’re launching your recurring offer. Today: raw Stripe, patchwork invoices, and you don’t even know your MRR.
Clean schedule, compliant invoicing, MRR/ARR/churn dashboard – like Chargebee, but built into your Orizen
Digital agency, ESN, consultancy
You started with a flat rate. Now you’re switching to maintenance contracts or support subscriptions. Recurring revenue grows fast — so does the admin.
Create subscription from the customer record, automated instalments, consolidated MRR in your Orizen cockpit
Coach, trainer, independent expert
You sell monthly or semi-annual support. Today: raw Stripe subscription + manual invoice in Pages, and your accountant redoes everything.
Structured subscription plan (monthly/quarterly), automatic invoicing with your logo, Pennylane sync
You invoice annual or quarterly maintenance contracts. Today: an Excel sheet reminding you "MAIN 2026 Q3 invoice in 2 months" — and you still forget.
Annual contract with automatic quarterly instalments, annual indexation, graduated reminders
IISet once
It runs every month, without asking for permission.
Below: the three recurring pains of manual billing, Orizen Subscriptions’ four core features, and an honest comparison vs Chargebee and Stripe Billing.
The hell of manual recurring billing
Three days a month lost reissuing the same invoices.
The 1st of the month is panic time
47 subscriptions to invoice. 47 invoices to issue, 47 emails to send. You spend the morning on it, and there are always 3 oversights that hurt your end-of-month cash flow.
Defaults are discovered at year-end
Without automatic reminders, 8 to 12% of recurring invoices slip into overdue. You only find out when the accountant does the books. Too late to chase.
No MRR, no management
How many active subscriptions? What’s this month’s churn? You don’t know. Without MRR tracking, you’re flying blind on predictable revenue—ironic.
Orizen subscription management
You set it up once. It runs every month.

Why not Chargebee or Stripe Billing
You don’t need a Chargebee for 47 subscriptions.
Dedicated platforms are designed for B2C SaaS with 50,000 subscribers. For a French B2B SME, you’re paying €299–599/month to do what Orizen does natively.

IVFrequently asked questions
Answers to the questions we’re asked most often.
Can you invoice prorata for a mid-month service start?
Yes. If the subscription starts on the 15th of the month, Orizen automatically calculates the prorata for the current month (by day or percentage, depending on your choice), then bills the full monthly amount from the following month. The customer immediately receives the first prorata invoice + their monthly invoice from the 1st of the next month.
How do you handle a plan change (upgrade or downgrade) during a subscription?
The change takes effect on the date you choose (immediate or next due date). Orizen automatically generates a credit note for the previous plan (prorated), an invoice for the new plan (prorated), and switches the future schedule to the new rate. The customer receives a clear summary of the transition.
What happens if a customer cancels their subscription?
Cancellation is configurable (with or without notice, on the effective date or at the end of the committed period). On the effective date, the schedule stops, the customer is notified, and the customer record is marked as "cancelled". If the commitment period is not completed, Orizen automatically calculates the cancellation fee according to your terms and conditions.
How does annual revaluation (indexing) work?
You enable annual indexing on the subscription (fixed rate or SYNTEC, INSEE, CPI index as per your choice). On the anniversary date, the rate is recalculated, the customer is notified 30 days before it takes effect, and the new invoice includes the updated amount. You retain the history of revaluations in the customer record.
How does it connect to Pennylane or my accountant?
All issued invoices and payments are automatically synced with Pennylane via native integration (5-minute setup). For accountants not using Pennylane, SAGE, FEC and CSV exports are available, can be scheduled monthly and sent automatically by email to your firm.
How does Orizen handle unpaid invoices and service suspension?
Configurable reminder sequence: email with payment link at D+3, D+7, D+15, with progressively firmer tone. At D+30 (configurable), automatic service suspension (optional, you retain control). If the customer reports a transfer issue, you can pause the sequence from their record. Real-time unpaid dashboard to manage risk.
VOur conviction
A French SME doesn’t need to pay €299/month to invoice 47 subscriptions.
Chargebee is an excellent platform—but designed for US B2C SaaS companies with 50,000 subscribers and 12 currencies. For a French B2B SME with 30 to 100 recurring contracts, paying €299/month (€3,600/year) to do three things—invoice, follow up, track MRR—is an economic non-starter.
We’ve seen too many agencies, firms and early-stage SaaS companies pay monthly for a dedicated recurring billing tool when Orizen does it natively. We’ve seen too many leaders discover their MRR from their accountant, three months after the fact. We’ve seen too many defaults slip into the balance sheet because follow-ups were always ‘for tomorrow’.
So we built subscription management into Orizen, just like we built free e-signature per send: because it should be part of your management tool, not a paid add-on.
